Cut-Out Numbers. - 1955. - Box : cardboard : 20 x 13 x 26 cm. - 97 envelopes : 17 x 11.5 cm. - Numbers : white paper
Box containing 97 envelopes, each holding several white paper cut-outs used in the unfinished film One, Two, Three. The envelopes are divided into twelve categories labelled according to content, generally according to the shape of the numbers: one, 2, three, =, +, -, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 0, masks, miscellaneous, smiles & credits, in use, spare. Following several tests, Norman McLaren and Evelyn Lambart decided that the numbers were too big to be easily animated and that the technique required too many numbers to be effective.
