Norman McLaren

Some tools of Norman McLaren's trade. He used stylets to make animation films where, instead of drawing directly on film stock, he painted it first then scratched off the coloured layer to create drawings and movement. McLaren also used these stylets to methodically scratch the soundtrack area of the film in order to produce synthetic music.
