In this lesson students explore various topics such as Prairie life, prejudice against new immigrants, exploitation of workers and the development of labour unions in Canada. In Lost Dreams a young teenage immigrant views her family’s life in Canada and her father’s disappointment in not being able to acquire a farm. Students are encouraged to connect the themes in the film to current events. This film serves as a starting point for classroom discussion, research and exploration.
