  Description     The film
Many francophone Jews emigrated from North Africa after 1956, as France's role as a colonial power declined and Arab states gained strength. Most immigrated to France, Québec, and the new state of Israel. In this excerpt from a 1977 film, a Jewish immigrant from Morocco talks about the stereotype held by many Québécois that all Jews are anglophone and capitalist.
