This theme offers film excerpts on land claims, management of natural resources, ancestral rights and recovery of Aboriginal cultural artefacts. It also presents images showing the resistance of Aboriginal peoples to repression by non-Aboriginal culture.

This lesson is designed to encourage high school students to reflect on the impact that intolerance, racism and discrimination have on individuals and on society. Students will explore the meaning of the term Métis and examine the history of the Métis People, with particular emphasis on discrimination.
