This theme offers film excerpts on land claims, management of natural resources, ancestral rights and recovery of Aboriginal cultural artefacts. It also presents images showing the resistance of Aboriginal peoples to repression by non-Aboriginal culture.

The Healing Journey Students will learn about Aboriginal peoples’ struggle for self determination and self government, namely the struggles over treaty land entitlements, control over natural resources and rights to ancestral lands and cultural artefacts. The films in this theme portray a rich and proud history of struggle by Aboriginal people in the face of oppression.
