Organochlorines are chemicals in which carbon and chlorine are combined. Though some are found in nature, the vast majority are manufactured for a wide range of uses, including pesticide application on agricultural lands. There is considerable evidence that these pesticides circulate globally and accumulate in remote areas like the Arctic.
