Academic scientists are showing an increased openness to the environmental knowledge of Aboriginal peoples. These scientific researchers, visiting the western Arctic in the 1970s, are equipped with sonic technology to detect underwater wildlife. They discover that local Inuit hunters have their own traditional methods of identifying the sounds of marine animals.
