This lesson will help students understand the impact immigration can have both on immigrants and on the society that accepts them. The lesson, which is conducted in the form of a discussion, also serves to help students understand the changes associated with a specific place through time and across Quebec's history.

The aim of this lesson is to stimulate learning about citizenship and community life, specifically openness to pluralism and respect for diversity, so that students become responsible citizens. Using the documentary, students will debate the underlying message, applying several competencies in the Geography, History and Citizenship Education program.
