The British offensive at Amiens, spearheaded by the Canadian and Australian Corps, was decisive, the Canadians on August 8, 1918 scoring gains of twelve kilometres after years of battles that gained only metres of mostly worthless mud. This clip shows cavalry massing for the attack—the Canadian Corps had a British cavalry division (with one of its brigades being Canadian) under its command. We also see the heavy shelling that preceded the assault.
