About the film
In 1941 the Canadian government imposed a total freeze on wages and prices. The Wartime Price and Trade Board, led by Donald Gordon, made a particular appeal to women for help in combating inflation. This NFB newsreel encourages women to participate in a system of monitoring prices for basic goods. A number of essential goods were rationed during WWII.
A tribute to the women of Canada for their part in the World War II effort. After the disastrous events of June 1940, The Canadian Women's Army Corps and homemakers alike were called upon to do their part in the war effort. From careful budgeting in the home to services rendered overseas, women's work was intergral to the well-being of all.
