Description The film
Having played an essential role in the wartime economy, women came under intense pressure to quit their jobs and return home once the war ended. In this newsreel, released immediately after the war, the paternalistic tone of the male narrator contrasts with images of women's dynamic and multi-faceted contribution to the war effort.

A tribute to the women of Canada for their part in the World War II effort. After the disastrous events of June 1940, The Canadian Women's Army Corps and homemakers alike were called upon to do their part in the war effort. From careful budgeting in the home to services rendered overseas, women's work was intergral to the well-being of all.
